When doing a PORTRAIT, I use PHOTOGRAPHIC REFERENCE. Your own photo(s) can be used or I offer complimentary PHOTO SESSIONS.
For most commissions, typically, we do a casual interview, of sorts (with whoever is commissioning the artwork). I query about features or attributes of the Portrait Subject. What characteristics are being celebrated in your vision for the artwork?

My aspiration, and artistic backbone, is to realize through the art, an intimate and confidante-like connection with my subject. In Portraiture, this is achieved through intense scrutiny of expression, as well as postures, mannerisms, and countenance. Folds of clothing, body positioning, and environment can be included. I create portraits that blend likeness with mood and spirit, sometimes with character-driven props. They can be haunting, moving, gleeful. Loud or silent. Infused with movement or stillness or emotion.

Typically, head and shoulders Portraiture in black and white will be priced at $500:

✦ 50 percent Deposit upon Commission with
Balance Due upon approved completion.

For LANDSCAPE, I am happy to offer an optional site visit. We will share a conversation about the memories, feelings, beauty and attributes of the landscape being celebrated in the artwork.
