Gaze 1

Holy Cazolly, I'd forgotten the adventure of drawing eyeglasses. The challenge in this piece is the angle that creates a unique level of opaque-ness on each lens, obscuring each eye differently. To keep the face cohesive the reflections should share similar value. What is missing, at this stage, is the sense that it is one reflection broken up by the nose and continuing into the other lens. The matching reflection value will pull it together once done. Stepping back for a time then studying the piece from afar is magical in seeing it fully. After working steadily, never noticing the reflection imbalance, it became clearly apparent at first glance, after the visual trance, so to speak, was broken. Like a lot of in life. Art is everything.
