This is a crop I might stick with. We'll see. As the painting evolves, sometimes a studied edit emerges that serves the piece better than the originally planned composition. This possibility was why I experimented with a cut-able surface. It was a happy experiment in that I am really enjoying the richness of the pastel on suede board. That and my, sometimes, frustrating inability to size the original drawing to it's alloted surface. I'll flesh out (tehee) the arm and hand that are not shown and then assess in what form the piece sings the sweetest. A critical eye, regarding values and general "busy-ness"of detail, will come after the image composition is negotiated between me, and my painting.
